"Rob Smith, RSD is not only a successful dubstep producer and pioneer of the Bristol sound, but also a very popular deejay travelling the world sharing his music. Coming from a reggae background and well-versed in sound system culture, Rob kept some of his best productions for his exclusive use when deejaying, the only way you would hear these gems was being played in one of Rob's sets. Fortunately, we've managed to persuade Rob to let Reggae Archive Records share these dubplate specials with a wider audience on a limited-edition vinyl LP. Compiled and sequenced in conjunction with Rob, the LP features nine tracks newly edited and mastered by Rob to enhance the bass playback on vinyl, it's cut heavy! The tracks were recorded between 2006 and 2011, a time when one strand of dubstep heavily embraced reggae and dub. Rob calls these tracks reggae infused dubstep and that's what they are, but Reggae Archive Records is a reggae label and this selection of dubstep tracks will most certainly appeal just as much to reggae and dub fans. Fusing dubstep beats, reggae samples, and seriously heavy basslines, this is a joyous celebration of musical cross fertilisation that has been tried and tested in clubs worldwide. In keeping with the dubplate origins of the tracks, we have designed the labels to replicate an old school acetate, while the sleeve pays tribute to seventies pre-releases albums with a replica stamp giving just the artist and title on a plain white sleeve with aged effect"

Libyan Reggae at its peak grooves courtesy of Benghazi-born Ahmed Ben Ali. After working with Ahmed on the 12” hit “Subhana” (Habibi012), Habibi Funk is back with a full-length release focusing on Ahmed’s releases from the mid 2000’s. The tracks on the LP represent a blisteringly deep collection of heavy reggae rhythms and synthesized grooves from a singular creative force, inspired as much from Jamaican sonics as from Libyan folkloric styles, as Ahmed says, “it’s the Libyan style, not some bullshit.”

The instrumentals were composed and recorded by aDUBta & The Black Oak Roots Allstars.
In November of last year, Marcus I joined aDUBta at his Attic Roots Studio to work on and record the songs together.
The mixes and Dubs were mixed by aDUBta entirely analog and live on his Tascam 388 mixing console to give them the final touch.

Second dub album 'Dub Over Yonder' of the great Eeyun Perkins & The Co-Operators.Features dub cuts of tracks from Joe Yorke & The Co-Operators 'A Distant Beat' and The Co-Operators and Friends' 'Sounds from the Fridge'.In a similar style to 'Vibrations from the Bionic Tabernacle' the dubs were all mixed in the same sessions as their respective vocals so as to keep a similar vibe.These are stripped back versions, no gimmicks, but rhythms dubbed in an x-ray style.

Holy grail of US roots reggae released in 1979. Old-style tip-on sleeve replicating the original sleeve. More Relation started in 1977 in New York as a backup band for reggae artists such as Melodians, Larry Marshall, Carlton Coffee, and Ken Boothe, but soon they started crafting their own melodic & deep roots reggae. They released many now sought-after singles such as "The Light", "Solve Them" and one self-titled album.

With El Vuelo del Babrik, Los Babriks present a fascinating debut album – a blend of Colombian, Peruvian and other South American musical influences. Deeply rooted in the guitar-heavy Chicha style and enriched with Reggae elements, especially evident in the distinctive organ melodies, the band led by Mauricio-Joran Ceseña creates a unique sound that transports listeners to the golden era of Cumbia and Chicha.

This compilation is dedicated to the memory of the late great “Prince” Philip Smart - the first apprentice of King Tubby and the first engineer at Tubby’s studio besides Tubby himself. Alongside Tubby, Philip was integral to the innovation that took place at Tubby’s studio in the mid 1970s, where the mixing of new roots reggae revolutionized the sound of Jamaican music and created styles and techniques that are still being echoed today, nearly 50 years later.

Enregistré et mixé à Leggo's Studio (Kingston / Jamaica) avec les Roots Radics nouvelle version à savoir : Flabba Holt (Bass), Dwight Pinkney à la guitare, Carl Ayton à la batterie, Steve Golding à la guitare et T-Bird Johnson au piano.
Évolution dans le son, cet album sonne beaucoup plus lourd, beaucoup plus gros. Il est aussi beaucoup plus produit, ce qui ouvrira les portes du succès international au groupe, qui entamera une tournée marathon en Europe et aux Etats Unis, puis en Amérique du Sud. Cet album inclut le très puissant Rudeboy Shufflin et bien sûr le très emblématique On The Rock qui sont tous deux des titres marquants dans l'histoire du groupe.
